Brenda and Mauricio met by chance during a weekend in Brownsville.

Brenda was home visiting from Dallas and ended up helping out her parents during a dinner party they were hosting that night.

Mauricio was a special guest that evening. He had just finished a one-year judicial clerkship with Brenda’s Dad at the federal courthouse and was about to start a new job. The dinner was a farewell and good luck dinner for him and his co-clerk.

When Mauricio arrived, Brenda opened the door and met him for the first time. They ended up talking for a while that night.

After a few days, Brenda decided (with some good advice from her sisters!) that she had to message Mauricio first. Even if Mauricio was thinking about messaging her, the fact that he had worked for her Dad was probably a deal breaker and keeping him from doing so.

That was the start of many messages, conversations, and eventually, a first date.

Mauricio trabajaba como abogado (law clerk) con el papá de Brenda en la corte federal cuando se conocieron en la cena anual que el papá celebro en su casa. Brenda habia viajado de Dallas ese fin de semana y, aunque técnicamente no tenía ninguna razón para estar en la casa durante la cena, decidió de ir a la cena de todos modos. Menos mal que lo hizo!

Los dos se conocieron y estuvieron platicando esa noche, pero Brenda se regreso a Dallas al concluir el fin de semana. Mauricio era un poquito tímido para dar el primer paso, así que Brenda decidió hacerlo y le mandó un mensaje.

De ahí, empezaron a hablar, después a salir, y eventualmente llegaron hasta aquí: ¡a casarse!
